There are times in life when it doesn't matter how adventurous you are, or aren't. How talented and skilled you are, or aren't. Religious or not. Brave, or timid, or in between. Rich, or poor, or in between. It doesn't matter where you've come from, what you've gone through, what you want to do, what you like to do, or anything. It just doesn't matter, there will be a time(s) in your life where you will have fear, or maybe you already have. Fear of someone, or something, of the unknown. Fear should not be shunned, it can keep us from doing things that we maybe shouldn't, warn us of danger. It is important to overcome our fear. Overcoming our fears can make us feel alive, and make us feel good about ourselves and our accomplishments. When we have determination to not let our fears stop us from accomplishing things no matter how great or small they may seem, we work harder.
I would like to dedicate this song, by Terri Clark, to @saintvi who has made a determination this year to start living with less fear, and has done so well already. And to everyone who has and is overcoming fear. I hope it helps to encourage.

Today my Dad's mum, my Grandma, turns 92. Jessie Robb is an amazing person. She was a loving wife to my Papa, a wonderful mum to ny dad and Uncle Lyle, a great grandma to me, my brother, and sister, and a overjoyed great-grandma to my nephew Jasper. She was an amazing witness for God, a steadfast prayer warrior, and a great example to us all. Though I won't be with her in person as I live thousands of kilometers away, I will be there in spirit as her family that does live near her gets together to celebrate her long and wonderful life, even as we know it's nearer to the end than any of us want (except maybe her, as she is ready and wanting to see Jesus).
Yeah, I got my hair cut and died today (Wednesday). I had it dyed blue and spiked up, and it's wicked you don't just have to take mt word for it, I give you........................... pictures!!!!!
It turned out a bit tuquoise, which didn't show as much until after I washed it later. Kind of an irridescent green-blue, I rather like it. The last pic is how my hair is most often worn, I don't get many chances to spike my hair since I have to wear a hairnet and hat at work.
April 3, 1898: A 10-m wall of snow roared down the Chilkoot Pass in Alaska, bouncing huge boulders and burying 100 Klondike stampeders under 9 m of snow. At least 70 prospectors perished. An ox buried in the snow was dug out alive and used to haul bodies to the cemetery. A dog named Jack lived 8 days under a snow pile. Two weeks later, he was back in the harness, hauling supplies to the gold fields.
Apil 6, 1952: Huge boulders piled atop cakes of ice swept away the new Saskatchewan Landing bridge in a flood near Swift Current, SK. Three steel spans and one concrete span weighing hundreds of tonnes were hurled 12 m, disappearing in 15 seconds in the South Saskatchewan River. The flood threw house-sized ice chunks onto riverbanks. RCMP evacuated 25 families and herded livestock to higher ground.
April 10, 1896: In eastern Newfoundland some hunters left home in search of seals. Strong winds, however, drifted their ice floes out to sea. Two of the sealers could have saved themselves, but they refused to leave a weaker companion, who later died of exposure. While making a run up the coast, the mail steamer Birginia Lake rescued these 2 men. Two others in the party were never found.
April 11, 2004: Environment Canada asked the UN World Meteorological Organization to retire the storm name "Juan." Jurricane Juan took many lives and caused great damage when it swept through the Maritimes in September 2003. The WMO replaced "Juan" with "Joaquin." This was the first time Canada asked the WMO to retie a storm name. An Atlantic jurricane cannot be named Juan for at least 10 years.
April 16, 2010: Pop princess Shiloh and punk band Billy Talent were among the artists who scrambled to get to St. John's, NL, to attend the 39th annual Juno Awards. Impenetrable fog all but shut down flights into the city. Airlines sent jets to Halifax, NS, or Gander, NL, when ground fog proved too thick to approach safely. A week earlier, 12°C temperatures and sunshine prevailed.
..... The Junos are the Canadian Music Awards. I was living in St. John's at that time, and had gone downtown to see Terri Clark play at one of the clubs, except that Terri wasn't playing because her flight was one of the many affected by the fog. About half the musicians/bands were delayed in the getting to the foggy city. One of the Road Hammers was stuck in an airport in NJ for 30 hours because of delays from the fog (when they finally got there they put on a wicked show). Instead of Terri I saw the Ennis Sisters, and discovered a new band from PEI, Tim Chaisson and Morning Fold who are a great folk band. And I finally saw Terri last week, so it all worked out alright in the end :)
What season is considered the best to fall in love, begin dating someone, meet someone new, or get married?
a) winter; b) spring; c) summer; d) fall; e) no difference
apparently there is a correct answer, but personally I think there's no difference. It just depends on when it is you do any, or all of these things. What do you think?
As a bonus I added a musice video of Time Chaisson and Morning Fold's song Slippin' Away
Yesterday marked the passing of one of the greatest drummers in music. Levon Helm was an amazing singer/drummer, one of my faves from one of my favourite bands, The Band, even though I'm too young to have seen them live. His legend and music will live on.
This next one, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, is, I think, my favourite of theirs. I love hearing Levon sing it, he puts so much emotion into it, he sounds like he's really mourning the loss and means it. The fact that he was the one non-Canadian in the band, to me makes it even more real. Maybe I should just shutup and let the music speak for itself.
edit: found this video of Levon on the Letterman show in '09
